Cranes bidding extended for 810-MW Lower Granite, 810-MW Lower Monumental

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the deadline for bids to supply replacement gantry cranes at the 810-MW Lower Granite and 810-MW Lower Monumental hydroelectric projects on the Snake River in Washington. Bids now are due June 7.

The Corps previously called for bids by May 24. (HydroWorld 4/29/10) The Corps’ Walla Walla District took bids April 30 to rewind main generator Unit 3 at Lower Granite (HydroWorld 4/15/10), which with Lower Monumental are among four large Corps hydro projects on the Lower Snake. The current solicitation for Lower Granite and 810-MW Lower Monumental includes design, manufacture, and installation of two 130-ton intake gantry cranes, which are to have trolleys with main hoists and at least one outside actuating hoist each.
