Czech developer renews bidding to build 750-kW Velky Osek

Czech developer MVE Velky Osek s.r.o. again reissued a request for bids to build a powerhouse for the 750-kW Velky Osek hydropower project in the Czech Republic. Bids are due February 10, 2010.

MVE Velky Osek previously called for bids by July 17, 2009, and November 14, 2008, for construction of a powerhouse and switchyard at the existing Velky Osek weir and lock. (HydroWorld 5/28/09) The structure eventually is to house three 250-kW Kaplan turbine-generators.

The developer also again increased the estimated maximum cost of the project to 170 million koruny (US$9.37 million). It previously increased the estimated cost of the work to 100 million koruny (US$5.16 million) from 95 million koruny (US$4.8 million).

The work is to be performed between March 2010 and June 2011.
