Czech developer reopens bidding to build 5.2-MW Steti

Developer Energeia o.p.s. has renewed a solicitation for bids to build the 5.2-MW Steti hydroelectric project on the Elbe River in the Czech Republic. Bids are due April 27.

Energeia previously called for bids by January 2, 2011, and November 30, 2010, to build the Steti project on an existing weir on the lower Elbe. The project is to include two tubular Kaplan turbines of 5.1 meters in diameter for an average annual generation of 31.5 gigawatt-hours.

The work now is valued at 690 million koruny (US$39.8 million), down from a previous estimate of 750 million koruny (US$42 million). It is to be carried out between June 2011 and April 2014.
