Czech utility seeks turbine rehab at 40-MW Kamyk

PRAGUE, Czech Republic 3/19/12 (PennWell) — Czech utility CEZ a.s. seeks bids to refurbish a turbine-generator at the 40-MW Kamyk hydroelectric project in the Vlatava River cascade in the Czech Republic. Bids are due April 3.

CEZ took bids in 2011 to supply replacement generator and turbine components to its hydroelectric projects in the Vlatava cascade. CEZ plans to modernize the more than three dozen hydro projects it operates, most on the Vlatava River.

CEZ currently seeks bids to overhaul Unit 1 of Kamyk, which has four Kaplan turbines commissioned in 1961 and 2008. Work includes new guide vanes, impeller, controls, and other components. Work is to be carried out between March and November 2013.
