Dam safety monitoring sought for Ukraine hydro plants

Ukraine utility OJSC UkrHydroEnergo seeks bids to supply an automated dam safety monitoring system for its hydroelectric projects. Bids are due May 24, 2010.

With World Bank funding, the government of the Ukraine is carrying out a hydropower rehabilitation program to improve operational stability and reliability of hydroelectric plants. In the current solicitation, UkrHydroEnergo seeks bids for:
o Lot UHE/T-DAM1-20/09 (Lot 1) – Supply and installation of internal instrumentation;
o Lot UHE/T-DAM2-20/09 (Lot 2) – Supply and installation of permanent deformation monitoring system.

Companies may bid for one or both lots. The delivery period is 20 months.

Ukraine to seek equipment, consultants for seven hydro plants

UkrHydroEnergo plans to issue solicitations in early 2010 for equipment to rehabilitate seven of its hydroelectric projects.

The utility said it plans to seek:
o Supply and installation of new turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment for the 225-MW Kyiv Pumped-Storage and 444-MW Kaniv, 352-MW Dniprodzerzhynsk (or Dnieprojerzinsk), 651-MW Dnipro 1, and 661-MW Dnipro 2 (or Dnieprovska 1 and 2) hydroelectric projects;
o Supply and installation of transformers and electrical equipment for Kaniv, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Dnipro 1, and Dnipro 2;
o Supply of hydro-mechanical equipment (spillway gates, trashracks, stoplogs, and unit intake gates) at Kaniv, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Dnipro 1, Dnipro 2, 686-MW Kremenchuk, and 351-MW Kakhovka;
o Supply and installation of dam safety equipment at Kyiv Pumped-Storage;
o Consultancy services for a feasibility study to expand Kakhovka; and
o Consultancy services for the Project Implementation Unit and lender’s engineer.
