Estonia seeks studies to improve fish migration at 82 dams

HARJU, Estonia 9/14/11 (PennWell) — Keskkonnateabe Keskus, Estonia’s environmental information center, seeks bids to inventory flows at 82 dams and help improve conditions for fish migration. Bids are due October 18.

Keskkonnateabe Keskus seeks technical evaluation of fish migration routes at 11 dams on rivers where salmon are present, including feasibility studies and environmental assessments, preparation of tender documents, and supervision of construction contracts to improve fish migration.

The agency also seeks inventory of 71 dams on non-salmon rivers, environmental assessments, and tests in accordance with requirements of the European Union Water Framework Directive.

Valued at 600,000 euros (US$823,731), the work is to require services of a project manager, a designer in hydraulic engineering, a fish specialist, a procurement specialist, and an environmental assessment specialist.
