Gantry cranes sought for 810-MW Lower Granite, 810-MW Lower Monumental

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids to supply replacement gantry cranes at the 810-MW Lower Granite and 810-MW Lower Monumental hydroelectric projects on the Snake River in Washington. Bids are due about May 5.

The Corps’ Walla Walla District is taking bids April 6 to rewind main generator Unit 3 at Lower Granite (HydroWorld 2/19/10), which with Lower Monumental are among four large Corps hydro projects on the Lower Snake. The current solicitation for Lower Granite and 810-MW Lower Monumental includes design, manufacture, and installation of two 130-ton intake gantry cranes, which are to have trolleys with main hoists and at least one outside actuating hoist each.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site,, by entering Solicitation No. W912EF10R0021 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.

A solicitation notice is expected to be issued about April 5, with proposals to be due no sooner than 30 calendar days after the solicitation issuance. The listed May 5 due date is an estimate.
