Homeland Security seeks engineer for dam protection sector

WASHINGTON 6/5/12 (PennWell) — The Department of Homeland Security seeks a senior civil engineer to serve in the agency’s Dams Sector Branch, Office of Infrastructure Protection, National Protection and Programs Directorate. Applications are due by June 14.

The Dam Sector Branch is to ensure preparedness and infrastructure protection of dams, hydropower projects, navigation locks, and levees.

The current position, in Arlington County, Va., for Civil Engineer is listed as GS-0810-14 with a salary range of $105,211 to $136,771. The position is to provide technical advice and develop initiatives that improve coordination between safety and security issues associated with dams, hydropower plants, navigation locks, and levees.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, GS-13. Requirements include a degree in engineering in relevant fields or a combination of education and experience.
