Lesotho seeks consultants for five Metolong Dam tasks

The government of Lesotho invites expressions of interest from consultants for five separate contracts related to the Metolong Dam and Water Supply Program. Responses to five solicitations are due September 15, 2009.

In July, the government awarded a US$1 million contract to U.S. consultant Paul J. Collins to serve as engineering manager for the proposed Metolong Dam on the Phuthitsana River near Metolong, Lesotho. (HydroWorld 7/6/09) Metolong Dam is a Lesotho Lowlands Water Supply project that is to supply domestic and industrial water to six lowland districts of Lesotho.

The current solicitation seeks expressions of interest from consultants for:
o Preparation of Risk Management Plan and Periodic Monitoring of Implementation for the Metolong Dam and Water Supply Program;
o Preparation of Environmental and Social Management Guidelines/Strategic Environmental Management Plan;
o Public Opinion Research, Communications, and Governance Improvement Plan;
o Design and Construction Supervision of Water Supply and Sanitation Services;
o Design and Construction Supervision of Rural Electrification.

Expressions of interest, an original and five copies, are due by 11 a.m. September 15 for each solicitation. Electronic submissions also are encouraged.
