Piping replacement bidding extended for 41.4-MW Alcova, 15-MW Boysen

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to replace piping at the 41.4-MW Alcova and 15-MW Boysen hydroelectric plants in Wyoming. Bids now are due Oct. 7.

Reclamation previously called for bids by Oct. 5.

Alcova, on North Platte River in Natrona County, is part of the Kendrick Project, while Boysen, on Wind River in Fremont County, is part of the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program. (HydroWorld 8/9/10)

Reclamation’s Great Plains Regional Office seeks bids to remove existing fire water systems, cooling water systems, and service water systems in both plants. It also seeks removal of unwatering systems and geothermal heating systems at Alcova and penstock unwatering piping at Boysen. The work includes materials and installation of the replacement systems.

The work is valued at between $500,000 and $1 million.
