Samoa seeks bids to refurbish governors of 4-MW Afulilo

APIA, Samoa 12/20/11 (PennWell) — Samoa’s Electric Power Corp. (EPC) seeks bids to refurbish governors at the 4-MW Taelefaga powerhouse of Samoa’s Afulilo hydroelectric project. Bids are due January 16, 2012.

Samoa’s Ministry of Finance named SMEC International Pty Ltd. of Australia in 2009 to develop a plan to augment the capacity of the Afulilo project, which includes Afulilo Dam and reservoir, power tunnels, and the Taelefaga powerhouse.

With funding from the Asian Development Bank, EPC seeks bids to refurbish the governor control system of Taelefaga.

Bid documents in English may be obtained by mail or e-mail request to the address below plus a fee of US$200 by cashier’s check or wire transfer to an EPC bank account in Samoa.

Samoa seeks bids to refurbish 1-MW Alaoa

Samoa’s Electric Power Corp. (EPC) seeks bids for refurbishment of the island nation’s first hydroelectric project, 1-MW Alaoa, built in 1959. Bids are due August 17, 2009.

Alaoa, at Apia Upolu, is one of five hydroelectric projects in Samoa. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Finance named SMEC International Pty Ltd. of Australia to develop a plan to augment the capacity of the largest plant, 4-MW Afulilo, also called Taelefaga. (HydroWorld 3/18/09)

With funding from the Asian Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Australia’s AusAID, EPC seeks bids for replacement of Alaoa’s turbine, governor, control system, main inlet valve, generator, control panel, and switchgear and repairs to the penstock, intake gate, headrace, and intakes.
