Study, design sought for Tanzania’s Lugoda Dam, 600-kW Maluluma

Tanzania’s Rufiji Basin Water Office (RBWO) invites expressions of interest from consultants to prepare a feasibility study and detailed design for Lugoda Dam and the 600-kW Maluluma hydroelectric project in Tanzania. Responses are due July 9.

Under Tanzania’s water sector development program, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation previously recruited consultants to prepare a feasibility study and detailed design for Farkwa Dam (HydroWorld 6/15/10) and to prepare integrated water resources management and development plans for the Pangani River (HydroWorld 5/13/10), Lake Nyasa, Ruvuma River and Southern Coast, Lake Tanganyika, and Lake Rukwa basins. In the current solicitation, RBWO seeks consultants to prepare a feasibility study and detailed design for Lugoda Dam, and/or Ngalenge Dam, and the 600-kW Maluluma hydroelectric project that would utilize flows from Lugoda Dam on the Ndembera River.

Tanzania’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation also invites expressions of interest by July 16 from consultants to prepare an environmental and social assessment of Farkwa Dam and a water conveyance system to Dodoma City in the Internal Drainage Basin.
