Swiss operator seeks engineer to expand 14.4-MW Farettes

Hydropower operator Hydro Exploitation SA seeks bids for an engineering firm to oversee construction of a new water supply conduit at the 14.4-MW Farettes hydroelectric project in Switzerland’s Vaud Canton. Bids are due October 19, 2009.

Hydro Exploitation, which operates the project for Romande Energie, said it plans construction of the new water conveyance from an existing intake to the Farettes powerhouse. Farettes has two 7.2-MW Pelton turbines, but is listed as having total power of 6.7 MW. It has average annual generation of 52.4 gigawatt-hours.

The company seeks services including design of the project, assistance with permitting, development of tender documents, assistance with tendering, and project execution. Work is to be performed from January 2010 through December 2014.
