Tajikistan seeks geotechnical work at 126-MW Kayrakkum

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan 4/4/12 (PennWell) — The government of Tajikistan seeks bids for geotechnical investigation and instrumentation works at 126-MW Kayrakkum Dam on Tajikistan’s Syr Darya River. Bids are due April 16.

Tajikistan recruited consultants in February to prepare an early warning system for Kayrakkum Dam. The government received a US$13 million grant from the World Bank’s International Development Association to carry out the Ferghana Valley Water Resources Management Project, which includes work on Kayrakkum Dam (also spelled Kairakkum) and its reservoir, which was commissioned in 1957.

The Project Management Unit, Ferghana Valley Water Resources Management Project now seeks bids for geotechnical investigation and instrumentation works on Kayrakkum Dam and its reservoir.
