U.S. seeks AC, DC system upgrades at 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph

SEATTLE, Wash., U.S. 1/27/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for AC and DC system upgrades at 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph Dam near Bridgeport, Wash. Bids are due Feb. 13.

The Corps’ Seattle District previously solicited information from small businesses about their capability to perform the work. The Corps also awarded a $1.5 million contract in November to Burke Electric L.L.C. to replace a substation at Chief Joseph.

In the current solicitation, which is set aside for small businesses, the district seeks bids to furnish and install a 125/250-volt DC system, a 24/48-volt DC system, and a 120-volt preferred AC system, including battery banks, switchboards, chargers, and inverters, at Chief Joseph Dam. The work is valued at between $1 million and $5 million.
