U.S. seeks bids to replace sluice gate at Lake Shelbyville Dam

ST. LOUIS, Mo., U.S. 6/14/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to construct a replacement sluice gate at Lake Shelbyville on Illinois’ Kaskaskia River. Bids are due June 28.

Although there is no hydropower at the Corps flood control structure, Shelbyville Hydro LLC, a subsidiary of Symbiotics LLC, applied in 2011 to license the proposed 6.8-MW Lake Shelbyville Dam project (No. 13011) at the Corps dam.

The Corps’ St. Louis District seeks bids to replace the east sluice gate, including demolition, concrete, hydraulic power unit rehabilitation, and electrical work. Valued at $1 million to $5 million, the work is to require 365 days.

U.S. seeks bids to replace spillway gate chains at 90-MW Norfork

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas, U.S. 5/9/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids from small businesses to replace spillway tainter gate chains at 90-MW Norfork Dam on the North Fork River in Arkansas. Bids are due May 25.

The Corps’ Little Rock District previously said it had expected to issue the tender in February. It took information in November from small businesses capable of performing the work.

The Corps seeks bids from small firms to rehabilitate 24 spillway tainter gate hoists that operate 12 gates. The contractor is to design a new wire rope hoist system to replace existing hoist chains. The work is valued at between $1 million and $5 million.
