U.S. seeks bids to refurbish spillway gates at 185.3-MW Fort Peck

OMAHA, Neb., U.S. 6/26/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to rehabilitate 16 spillway gates at the 185.3-MW Fort Peck hydroelectric project on the Missouri River near Glasgow, Mont. Bids are due July 6.

The Corps’ Omaha District said it would take bids from all businesses for the work, changing a previous plan to set aside the work for small businesses. In addition to a series of flood rehabilitation solicitations, the Corps is taking bids July 31 to rehabilitate a turbine-generator at Fort Peck.

The Corps now seeks bids for: inspection of stoplogs and the 40- by 25-foot steel vertical lift gates; 3-D modeling and analysis; non-destructive testing; structural repair design; welding; corrosion repair; sandblasting; lead-based paint removal; wire rope replacement; concrete spall repair; gate seal replacement; painting; design and replacement of hoist controls and switches. The work is valued at $7.5 million to $10 million.

U.S. seeks bids to replace turbine at 45.2-MW Stockton

The Corps of Engineers seeks bids to replace a turbine and related equipment at its 45.2-MW Stockton hydroelectric plant in Missouri’s Sac River system. Bids are due Jan. 12, 2010.

In a previous sources sought notice, the Corps’ Kansas City District took expressions of interest in March 2009 from firms interested in the turbine work. The Corps also said it planned to seek bids for a replacement transformer for the Stockton project. (HydroWorld 9/25/09)

The Corps seeks bids for a firm fixed-price contract with some construction to replace the project’s sole Kaplan turbine, commissioned in 1973. Work is to include replacement of the turbine runner, stator coils, and digital excitation system, as well as upgrade of the governor with a new digital governor.
