The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids to supply a 40-ton replacement tailrace gantry crane for 635-MW Ice Harbor Dam on the lower Snake River in Washington. Bids are due Feb. 15, 2010.
The Corps plans to replace turbines at Ice Harbor with “fish friendly” advanced turbines and recently awarded a contract to Destron Fearing for passive integrated transponder technology for fish counting at Ice Harbor. (HydroWorld 7/2/09)
In the current solicitation, the Corps’ Walla Walla District seeks a new gantry crane including gantry frame with a trolley and gantry drives. The trolley is to have a 40-ton hoist utilizing two load blocks, trolley drives, and trolley enclosure. Electrical equipment is to include motors, drives, brakes, limit switches, and complete control systems. Work includes removal of the existing crane including safe disposal of lead paint and asbestos.
