Afghans seek procurement adviser for rehabilitation of 100-MW Naghlu hydro project

Afghanistan national utility Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) invites applications from consultants to serve as international procurement adviser for rehabilitation of the 100-MW Naghlu hydroelectric project on Afghanistan’s Kabul River. Applications are due June 22.

DABS previously called for bids June 7 for turbine-generator rehabilitation at Naghlu. It recruited consultants in January to monitor and supervise the turbine-generator rehabilitation work. It also took bids in January to supply spare parts and consumables for Naghlu’s rehabilitation.

Since 2006, the World Bank has been financing the rehabilitation of electrical and electro-mechanical parts of the Naghlu project, which was built with help from the Soviet Union in the 1960s.

DABS now seeks applications to serve as international procurement adviser to the utility for Naghlu’s rehabilitation. Work includes preparation of a procurement plan, preparation and execution of requests for proposals and bidding documents, management of procurement, staffing, logistical arrangements and contracting.

Applications including resumes are due by June 22 by e-mail to the address below. For information, contact Wali Oria, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), First Floor, O/o CFO, Chaman-e-Houzouri, Kabul, Afghanistan; (93) 752002063; E-mail:, Internet:
