Albania seeks equipment for hydro, grid substations

Albanian utility Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH) seeks bids for replacement equipment at three hydro project substations as well as equipment for other substations in the Albanian transmission grid.

KESH seeks bids by October 6, 2009, for equipment for a 220- kilovolt substation at the 500-MW Fierza hydroelectric project and for control, monitoring, and protection systems for substations at Fierza and the 600-MW Komani and 250-MW Vau i Dejes hydro plants, all on the Drin River.

Earlier this year, KESH took bids for dam safety work at the three hydropower plants, which supply 95 percent of Albania’s power. (HydroWorld 4/14/09)

KESH has applied for a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to help fund US$52 million in substation rehabilitation. Work is to improve Albanian infrastructure and to help it achieve greater integration with European regional electricity markets. (HydroWorld 6/21/06)

A site visit and pre-bid meeting are scheduled for July 27-29 at the hydro project substations. Bids are due to the address below by noon October 6.

KESH seeks bids by September 29 for equipment and control, monitoring, and protection systems for 220-kV Burreli and 400-kV Elbasan 2 grid substations.

A site visit and pre-bid meeting are scheduled for July 27-29 at the substations.
