Albania seeks supervision for rehabilitation of 11 dams

Albania’s Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Administration invites expressions of interest from consultants to supervise rehabilitation and modernization of 11 dams in Albania’s Drin-Buna and Semani river basins. Responses are due June 23.

The government took responses last year in a similar solicitation for work on the 11 dams and three others. Albania utility Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH) also sought dam safety studies last year for the Drin River cascade of hydroelectric projects as well as spillway gates and stoplogs rehabilitation for three projects on the Drin.

Albania has received 31 million euros (US$42 million) in financing from the World Bank for the Water Resources and Irrigation Project, which it plans to use for supervisory services for dam rehabilitation.

The ministry now seeks expressions of interest from consultants to supervise rehabilitation and modernization of 14 dams, mostly in the Drin-Buna and Semani river basins. Dams include Murriz Thana, Kurjan, Strumi, Leminoti, Duhanas, Belesova, Tregtan 2, Tregtan 3, Vranisht 2, Koshnica 1 and Zharrez.

Expressions of interest are due June 23 to the address below.
