Alstom wins bid to outfit Brazil’s Cachoeira Caldeirao hydropower plant

Energias do Brazil has selected Alstom Renewable Power to supply all electromechanical equipment for its 220-MW Cachoeira Caldeirao hydropower project.

The US$130 million contract will see Alstom supply three bulb generation units, gates, balance of plant, hydromechanical and erection equipment for the project, which is to be located on the Araguari River in Brazil‘s northern region.

Alstom (FR: ALO) said the Cachoeira Caldeirao is part of Brazil’s PAC 2 program, which aims to increase the country’s growth through improving its power generation capacity.

The hydroelectric plant will connect to the national grid via the Ferreira Gomes substation once complete in 2017.
