Analysis sought of Niger Basin environmental, socio-economic data

The Niger Basin authority seeks expressions of interest from consultants to evaluate the management of environmental and socio-economic information in the Niger River Basin. Responses are due April 19.

L’Autorite du Bassin du Niger (ABN) previously called for consultants to serve as personnel recruiters with experience in dams, project management, and development, and consultants to develop an implementation handbook for water resources development and sustainable ecosystem management. ABN member states include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad.

ABN currently seeks an engineering and design firm with experience in the field of environment and specializing in problems of management of data and environmental and socio-economic information.

Work is to include: review of previous documents of site visits and meetings with institutions; identification of agencies producing basin data and analysis of its sufficiency; creation of a data base of standardized information, and definition of relevant indicators for sustainable development of the Niger Basin.
