Andritz wins contract for 27-MW Bramois hydropower project rehab

Andritz Hydro AG has won a US$12.4 million contract to replace turbine generators at the 27-MW Bramois hydropower project in Switzerland.

Offered by contractor Hydro Exploitation SA in July 2013, the contract calls for Andritz (OP: ADRZF) to supply two vertical Pelton turbine units rated at flows of five cubic meters per second and 17.8 megavolt-amperes. The units are to replace the project’s four horizontal turbine generators.

Hydro Exploitation is performing the work on behalf of project owner Forces Motrices de la Borgne, which is owned by Grande Dixence SA and area municipalities. Hydro Exploitation has worked on other projects recently including 290-MW Fionnay, 14.4-MW Farettes, and 1.6-MW Sonzier.

The work, including design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning, is to be completed by April 2018.
