Angola: 150 small hydropower projects planned

The government of Angola is planning to construct as many as 150 small hydropower projects, government sources reported.

Construction of the hydroelectric projects is part of a strategic plan aimed to improve and expand the power network countrywide, reports indicate.

Neither a time frame for construction of the small hydro projects nor the planned locations for the projects were given.

In other news, the Mpanga hydroelectric power project in Kamwenge District, Uganda, is now operational, news agencies reported.

The construction of the (US$13 million) small hydro project began in 2007.
