Another bid extension issued for impeller replacement, stator rewind at 314-MW Keys Pump-Generating hydro plant

Another deadline extension has been issued by the Bureau of Reclamation for bids to supply impeller replacements and stator rewinds at the 314-MW John W. Keys III Pump-Generating plant at Grand Coulee Dam. Bids now are due April 21.

Reclamation previously called for bids by April 10, March 26, Jan. 6 and Nov. 13.

The Keys plant is part of the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee Dam hydroelectric project in Washington. The plant was hit by fire in 2013, blamed on a switchgear failure in one of the plant’s six pumps or six pump-generators. Reclamation is planning a modernization program for the facility.

Reclamation now seeks bids for construction services to replace impellers and perform stator rewinds on Units P5 and P6 at Keys. The work is valued at more than $10 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R14PS00719 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box.
