Another new deadline for tunnel-dam work at India’s 800-MW Tawang 2

India’s NHPC Ltd. further extended the deadline for pre-qualification to construct a diversion tunnel and dam of the 800-MW Tawang 2 hydroelectric project in India’s Arunachal Pradesh State. Responses to the Lot 1 solicitation now are due October 3.

NHPC previously called for pre-qualification for two lots of civil works at Tawang 2: Lot 1 due August 30 and Lot 3, the powerhouse, due September 6. The government of Arunachal Pradesh State signed agreements in 2006 with NHPC to carry out Tawang 1 and 2, then estimated at 750 MW each.

The developer originally issued solicitations for three lots of civil works for Tawang 2. Lot 2 called for construction of a headrace tunnel.

NHPC extended the pre-qualification deadline for Tawang Stage 2:

  • Lot 1: Construction of diversion tunnel, barrage, intake, desilting chambers, silt flushing tunnels, and part of headrace tunnel up to RD 1,944 meters, completion in 65 months.

Pre-qualification documents now may be obtained until 5 p.m. October 1 for 20,000 rupees (US$375) by request labeled “Request for Pre-qualification Invitation Document for Tawang-II Lot-1 for Tawang Hydroelectric Project Stage II, 800 (4 x 200) MW.” Applications for pre-qualification now are due by 3 p.m. October 3.
