Argentina, Paraguay extend SCADA bidding for 3,200-MW Yacyreta

The Argentina-Paraguay joint operator Entidad Binacional Yacyreta (EBY) has extended the deadline for pre-qualification to supply a replacement generation control center for the 3,200-MW Yacyreta hydroelectric project on the Parana River. Responses now are due August 18, 2009.

EBY originally invited applications for pre-qualification by July 14. (HydroWorld 6/2/09) It plans to seek detailed engineering, presentation of drawings, calculations, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of a new generation control center and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for electrical protection, and other monitoring and control equipment for Yacyreta.

EBY has been increasing Yacyreta’s reservoir level to 83 meters above sea level from the current 76 meters. The higher water level will increase generation by 64 percent to 19,545 gigawatt-hours per year. (HydroWorld 7/6/07)

Bid documents may be obtained from the address below for US$2,000. Documents also may be obtained from the EBY Internet site at
