Audit: Hydro Review magazine reaches more than 10,000 subscribers

BPA Worldwide, an independent publication circulation auditing organization, reports that Hydro Review magazine, now in its 30th year serving the North American hydroelectric power industry, has passed the 10,000 subscriber mark.

Average total qualified circulation for the six-month period ending in December 2010 was 10,028, according to BPA. The BPA report indicates that U.S. readers account for nearly 7,600 subscriptions, with Canada making up the second-largest subscriber base at about 1,680. Mexico and other international locations accounted for about 700 subscribers, data show.

BPA reports all subscribers are in the “direct request” category, meaning each individual specifically requested a copy of the magazine.

Hydro Review, the magazine of the North American hydro industry, offers practical, useful information, helpful examples and guidance from experts. News and articles focus on industry trends, equipment, operations and maintenance, rehabilitation, new development, dam safety, environmental issues and more.

Hydro Review serves electric utilities, independent power producers, co-generators and small power producers, self-generators in process industries, power plant designers and others.

Electric utilities account for about 30 percent of the subscribers, according to the BPA report. Independent power producers account for another 20 percent. Another 30 percent of subscribers are consulting firms, design and construction companies, and original equipment manufacturers.

BPA Worldwide is governed by a tripartite board comprising media owners, advertising agencies and advertisers. Spanning 25 countries, BPA serves more than 2,000 business-to-business publications and 500 consumer magazines, plus newspapers, events, Web sites, e-mail newsletters, databases, wireless and other advertiser supported media-as well as more than 2,600 advertiser and agency members.

Hydro Review is published eight times a year and circulated directly to hydro decision makers. Hydro Review is available by print or digital subscription. PennWell Corporation is the only publisher serving the hydro marketplace to offer a digital version of its publications.

While Hydro Review covers the North American hydro industry, its sister publication, HRWHydro Review Worldwide, covers the world’s hydro industry.

HRW also is available in a digital format. Hydro Review and HRW are the only BPA-audited publications serving the hydropower market.

Hydro Review is the only magazine to exclusively cover the North American hydro industry, from micro to large scale, in every issue.
