Austria utility seeks construction of 16.3-MW Graz hydropower project

Austria regional utility Energie Steiermark seeks bids to construct the 16.3-MW Graz hydropower project on Austria’s Mur River. Bids are due November 24.

Murkraftwerk Graz, to be built at Graz, is the most recent of several hydro projects to be developed on the Mur. Energie Steiermark awarded a contract to Andritz Hydro in 2009 to supply electro-mechanical equipment for construction of the 20-MW Gossendorf and 20-MW Kalsdorf projects on the Mur River south of Graz. Verbund Austrian Hydro Power AG and Energie Steiermark subsidiary Steweag-Steg also cooperated to build the 9.5-MW Gratkorn and 11.4-MW Stubing hydropower projects on the Mur north of Graz.

Energie Steiermark now seeks bids for construction of the Graz project including the powerhouse, weir and other civil works.

Tender documents may be obtained from the Energie Steiermark bidding Internet site at https://e-steiermark.vemap.com. Bids, in German, are due via the website by noon November 24.
