BCI Construction USA awarded project at Illinois’ Lake Shelbyville Dam

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a bid worth US$706,929 to BCI Construction USA Inc. to construct a replacement sluice gate at Lake Shelbyville Dam in Illinois.

The Corps’ St. Louis District last solicited bids for the project in June, which calls for the replacement of Lake Shelbyville Dam’s east sluice gate. The work will include demolition, concrete, hydraulic power unit rehabilitation, and electrical work.

The dam, which is located on the Kaskaskia River, does not have hydroelectric generating capabilities. Shelbyville Hydro LLC, a subsidiary of Symbiotics LLC, applied to license a proposed 6.8 MW project at the Corps dam in 2011.
