Bid date extended to equip Portugal’s 178-MW Bemposta 2

National utility Energias de Portugal S.A. (EDP) has extended the bidding deadline to equip the 178-MW Bemposta 2 hydroelectric project on Portugal’s Douro River. Bids now are due November 28, extended from November 5.

EDP plans to build a new underground power station to utilize additional hydropower potential near the site of the 240-MW Bemposta project, built in 1964. (HNN 8/28/07) It previously took bids for civil works including a powerhouse cavern, chambers, galleries, tunnels, and cofferdams.

The current solicitation seeks supply of a complete equipment package for the project, including turbine-generators, command and control systems, and other hydro-mechanical equipment.

Bidding documents may be obtained in digital format from the address below for 2,500 euros (US$3,570).
