Bosnia seeks feasibility study of 11.5-MW Babino Selo hydro project

Utility Elektroprivreda of Bosnia and Herzegovina invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a feasibility study and other preparatory work for the 11.5-MW Babino Selo hydroelectric project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Responses are due July 14.

Elektroprivreda recruited consultants in June to review preliminary design for refurbishment of the 9.4-MW Una Kostela hydro project and construction of the 6.4-MW Una Kostela Annex. It also pre-qualified firms in April to construct the 20-MW Vranduk hydro project on the Bosna River.

The utility now seeks expressions of interest from consultants to prepare a feasibility study, geology exploratory investigation and a full environmental and social impact assessment for construction of Babino Selo on the Vrbas River. The work is expected to require 15 months with a budget of 750,000 euros (US$1 million).

Elektroprivreda seeks a consulting firm with substantial experience in design of hydropower plants, financial and technical issues of the power sector, investment and operating costs and practice, and relevant environmental laws and standards.

Expressions of interest must be accompanied by a completed contact sheet, the template for which may be obtained from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Internet site under http://www.ebrd.com/pages/workingwithus/procurement/notices/csu/contact_sheet.doc. Submissions should not exceed 25 pages excluding resumes.

Expressions of interest in English, an original and one copy, are due to the address below by July 14. Responses are to be submitted to the Elektroprivreda address below in an envelope labeled “Expression of Interest for HPP Babino Selo Feasibility Study.” An additional electronic copy should be submitted to EBRD by e-mail to the address below.
