Brazil drafts rules on renewables power sales

Brazil energy regulator Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica (ANEEL) is taking comments on draft rules to control the sale of energy from small renewable energy sources including hydropower.

ANEEL is taking comments until March 23 on the rules, which were developed by the Camara de Comercializacao de Energia Eletrica.

The �incentivized sources� to be governed by the rules include wind, biomass, and solar powered plants of no more than 30 MW and hydro projects of no more than 1 MW.

The rules cover subjects including project guarantees and the process for calculating tariff discounts for use of transmission and distribution systems.
