Brazil state seeks study, design of water system, small hydro

Brazil’s Ceara State invites expressions of interest from consultants to prepare feasibility studies and design of the Ibiapaba Water Integration System, including small hydropower. Responses are due June 4.

Ceara has received financing from the World Bank under the Federal Water Resources Management Project (PROAGUA). (HNN 11/14/07)

The state seeks consultants to carry out work in two stages:
o Stage 1: Report of identification of works; study of environmental feasibility; basic study of system and design of dam, canal/tunnel, and small hydro projects, �pequenas centrais hidreletricas� (PCH); final feasibility report;
o Stage 2: Environmental impact study, survey of land and accessions affected by the construction of the works and resettlement plan; specifications of dam, canal/tunnel, and penstock/PCH projects; preparation of operation and maintenance manuals, and economic-financial evaluation of the system.

The work is to require a maximum of 12 months.
