Brazil state seeks water resource plan for Pium River Basin

Brazil’s Tocantins State invites expressions of interest from consultants to prepare a water resource plan for the Pium River Basin in Tocantins. Responses are due March 20.

Brazil’s Bahia State also recruited consultants by March 14 to prepare water resource plans for the Verde and Jacare River Basin and for the Itapicuru River Basin in Bahia.

Tocantins recruited consultants in 2008 to help develop the Tocantins State Water Resources of River Basins Plan. The Brazilian state is the location of the 1,087-MW Estreito, 243.2-MW Sao Salvador and 902.5-MW Luis Eduardo Magalhaes hydroelectric projects.

Tocantins received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank for the Southwest Tocantins development program Programa de Desenvolvimento da Regiao Sudoeste do Estado do Tocantins (PRODOESTE).

Under the PRODOESTE program, Tocantins’ planning agency, Secretaria de Estado do Planejamento e da Modernizacao da Gestao Publica (SEPLAN)invites expressions of interest to develop the Pium Basin water resources plan over eight months.

Expressions of interest and qualifications are due by 6 p.m. March 20 to the address below.
