Brazilian hydropower technology manufacturer Voith celebrates awards

Voith Hydro’s Brazilian branch was recently recognized for a pair of honors, the global hydropower technology conglomerate has announced.

For the second year in a row, Voith Hydro was named best company in Brazil’s capital goods industry by economics and business publication Exame.

Meanwhile, the Voith Hydro was also amongst those collecting a Project of the Year award in the refurbishment and modernization category during HydroVision Brasil 2013 for its involvement in upgrading the 3,444-MW Ilha Solteira hydropower plant.

“Voith Hydro is constantly innovating, and the further development of our knowledge in integration has already become an advantage that allows us to meet demands,” Voith Hydro president and CEO Osvaldo San Martin said.

Voith Hydro modernized Ilha Solteira’s generating units, in addition to providing automation systems and other updates.

The company was also involved with the 22.5-MW Anhanguera hydroelectric plant, which was honored in HydroVision Brasil’s environmental sustainability category.

“We offer complete solutions that are perfectly adaptable to a wide range of projects,” San Martin said.
