Burundi seeks social, environmental assessment of 31.5-MW Jiji, 16.5-MW Mulembwe hydro projects

Burundi’s water and electric utility invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a social and environmental assessment of the 31.5-MW Jiji and 16.5-MW Mulembwe hydroelectric projects being developed in Burundi’s Bururi Province. Responses are due July 2.

Regie de Production et de Distribution d’Eau et d’Electricite (REGIDESO) also recruited consultants in June to carry out procurement and in December to supervise tendering and construction of the projects and a related transmission line. In March, REGIDESO recruited consultants to perform a geotechnical design review of Jiji’s proposed dam.

REGIDESO now invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a social and environmental assessment of the projects. The contract is expected to cover 12 months with a possibility of renewal.

Expressions of interest, labeled “Manifestation d’Interet pour le Recrutement d’un Consultant en Environnement et en Evaluation Sociale pour le Suivi des Aspects Socio-Environnementaux de PHJIMU,” are due to the address below by 10 a.m. July 2.
