Business brief: Pac Ma Hydropower chooses Andritz for 140-MW Pac Ma hydropower plant work

Pac Ma Hydropower Joint-Stock Company has awarded a contract to Andritz for its 140-MW Pac Ma hydropower plant in Vietnam.

Under a contract valued at about €40 million (US$46.3 million), Andritz will supply the complete electromechanical equipment, including four 35-MW bulb turbine units, the electric power systems, and auxiliary mechanical and electrical equipment.

Commissioning and the start of commercial operation of Pac Ma is scheduled for 2020. Pac Ma is anticipated to produce about 530 GWh of electricity annually, which will be supplied to the Vietnamese national grid, Andritz says.

Media reports indicate construction on this project began in March 2016. It is located on the Da River upstream of the 1,200-MW Lai Chau hydro project.

Just a week ago, we reported that Andritz received an order to rehabilitate and modernize the 3,000-MW Nurek hydroelectric facility in Tajikistan.
