Cameroon seeks deputy director for 56-MW Lom Pangar

YAOUNDE, Cameroon 6/20/12 (PennWell) — Cameroon utility Electricity Development Corp. (EDC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve as deputy director to help manage construction of the 56-MW Lom Pangar hydroelectric project on Cameroon’s Sanaga River. Responses are due June 29.

EDC recruited consultants in June to serve as project planner supervising tasks and deadlines. EDC has hired China International Water and Electric Corp. to complete construction of Lom Pangar and commissioned Coyne et Bellier to oversee the work.

In the latest solicitation, the utility seeks a consultant to assist EDC in control of the project, including assurance that all tender documents are properly prepared and that the procurement process is respected. The deputy director also is to implement standards, represent EDC on the construction site, and ensure all structures are built to specifications and that environmental and social requirements are met.
