Cameroon seeks project planner for 56-MW Lom Pangar

YAOUNDE, Cameroon 6/1/12 (PennWell) — Cameroon utility Electricity Development Corp. (EDC) invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve as project planner supervising tasks and deadlines to build the 56-MW Lom Pangar hydroelectric project on Cameroon’s Sanaga River. Responses are due June 12.

The World Bank approved a US$132 million loan for Lom Pangar in April. EDC recruited consultants in May to study optimization of the hydroelectric potential of the Sanaga River.

EDC has hired China International Water and Electric Corp. to complete construction of Lom Pangar and commissioned Coyne et Bellier to oversee the work.

In the latest solicition, the utility seeks a consultant to handle detailed planning of project tasks and deadlines. The planner is to build management information system dashboards to help make timely decisions and corrective actions if necessary. The work is expected to require 50 days with two missions in Cameroon.
