Canada supplier to add unit at California’s 18-MW Tulloch

Tri-Dam Project has selected Canadian Hydro Components to supply equipment for a new unit at the 18-MW Tulloch Dam hydro plant in California.

Tri-Dam Project, a venture of the Oakdale and South San Joaquin irrigation districts, is adding a third unit to the existing two-unit plant on the Stanislaus River. The new unit will add 6.7 MW, bringing the plant’s total generating capacity to 24.7 MW.

Canadian Hydro Components will supply the turbine under terms of a contract valued at $4.3 million. The equipment is to be delivered in 2009. A contractor still to be named is to install the equipment.

Tri-Dam’s design engineer, MWH, prepared bidding documents for construction at the project (No. 2067). The bid date is to be in late 2008. Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2010.
