Canada utility extends call for equipment inspection for 695-MW Keeyask hydro project

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro has extended the deadline for bids to provide inspection of equipment manufacturing for the 695-MW Keeyask hydroelectric project in Manitoba. Bids now are due Jan. 13.

Manitoba Hydro previously called for bids by Jan. 6 to provide inspection of equipment manufacturing and by Feb. 6 to supply generator circuit breakers for Keeyask, which is being built on the Lower Nelson River.

The utility took bids Dec. 4 to supply governors for Keeyask. Voith Hydro received a contract in September for seven vertical propeller turbine-generators at the project. Keeyask is being built by BBE Hydro Constructors Limited Partnership consortium including Bechtel, Barnard Construction and EllisDon.

Manitoba Hydro now seeks bids by 4 p.m., Central time, Jan. 13 for quality inspection and expediting services for mechanical and electrical equipment. It seeks an independent contractor to provide inspection services for manufacture of turbines and generators; draft tube gates; intake bulkhead gates; intake gates, guides and hoists; intake trashracks; spillway gates, guides, hoists and monorail crane; spillway stop logs; draft tube crane; intake monorail crane; powerhouse cranes; isolated phase bus and governors.
