Canada utility seeks civil construction to refurbish turbine-generator at 133-MW Great Falls hydro project

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro seeks bids to perform civil construction related to refurbishment of the Unit 4 turbine-generator at the 133-MW Great Falls hydroelectric project in Manitoba. A mandatory site visit is scheduled July 3, with bids due July 16.

Great Falls is among a half-dozen Manitoba Hydro generating stations on the Winnipeg River. Units at Great Falls are taken down every three years for maintenance.

Manitoba Hydro seeks a contractor to complete construction of all civil works related to the overhaul of Great Falls Unit 4, including intake gate guide rehabilitation, steel frame installation in the draft tube area, embedded turbine component removal and concrete placement, draft tube temporary work platform, transformer block wall installation, draft tube concrete repairs, turbine pit platform anchors, stator foundation modification, turbine pit and air intake concrete repairs, and concrete base for high-pressure oil injection system.

A mandatory site visit is scheduled for 10 a.m., Central time, July 3. Visitors should register by noon July 2 with Francis Lagadi at the address below.
