Canada utility seeks equipment inspection, breakers for 695-MW Keeyask hydro project

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro seeks bids to provide inspection of equipment manufacturing and to supply generator circuit breakers for the 695-MW Keeyask hydroelectric project being built on the Lower Nelson River in Manitoba. Bids in two solicitations are due Jan. 6 and Feb. 6, 2015.

Manitoba Hydro took bids Dec. 4 to supply governors for Keeyask. Voith Hydro received a contract in September for seven vertical propeller turbine-generators at the project. Keeyask is being built by BBE Hydro Constructors Limited Partnership consortium including Bechtel, Barnard Construction and EllisDon.

The utility now seeks bids by 4 p.m., Central time, Jan. 6 for quality inspection and expediting services for mechanical and electrical equipment. It seeks an independent contractor to provide inspection services for manufacture of turbines and generators; draft tube gates; intake bulkhead gates; intake gates, guides and hoists; intake trashracks; spillway gates, guides, hoists and monorail crane; spillway stop logs; draft tube crane; intake monorail crane; powerhouse cranes; isolated phase bus and governors.
