Cavico to construct road at Ban Chat hydro project in Vietnam

Vietnam-based infrastructure development company Cavico Corp. announced its majority owned subsidiary, Cavico Mining, was awarded a contract to construct an access road at the Ban Chat hydro project.

Cavico Mining’s scope of work would be to construct a 2,000 meter long access road, which would be used mainly for drivers as a detour from flooded roadways. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2011, and the expected revenue value of the contract is $1.5 million.

The 220-MW hydro plant is owned by Electricity of Vietnam. Project construction started in early 2006, and the plant is expected to be in operation by mid-2012.

Recently, Cavico Corp. signed an agreement for tunnel construction at a hydro project owned by Song Bac Hydropower JSC.

The value of that contract is expected to be approximately $11 million.
