Celec reviewing bid for work at 275-MW Minas San Francisco

State power generation holding company Corporacion Electrica del Ecuador (Celec) has completed reviewing technical offers for work on its 275-MW Minas San Francisco hydropower project.

HydroWorld.com reported in July that Celec was soliciting bids for the work, which includes consultation services to supervise Minas San Francisco’s engineering, construction, equipment supply, installation and commissioning.

Of three bidders who submitted proposals, Celec says only Consorcio Hidrojubones — a consortium consisting of Gas Natural Fenosa, Cominosca, Integral ingenieros Consultores and Astec — qualified for the project.

The utility will now review Consorcio Hidrojubones’ offer to determine if the contract will be awarded.

Ecuador’s environmental ministry granted the US$500 million project an environmental license in March.
