Colombian power company Celsia S.A. has received an environmental license for the 325-MW Porvenir 2 hydropower plant.

The license, granted by the Autoridad Nacional de Licencias Ambientales (Anla), allows for the construction and operation of the hydroelectric project, which is to be located in Colombia’s Antioquia Department.

HydroWorld.com reported in June 2012 that Celsia had begun operation of its 19.9-MW Hidromontanitas plant, which, along with Porvenir 2, are part of the company’s expansion program.

Porvenir 2 was originally scheduled for completion in 2017, though Celsia said it now anticipates commercial operations to begin in December 2018.
