Chile courts consultants for clean energy program

Chile is recruiting consultants to assist a program to develop small renewable energy projects that will stem carbon emissions.

With funding from the Inter-American Development Bank, Fundacion Chile (the Chile Foundation) is to administer the program of promotion of market activities for clean energies. The program is to be carried out over 36 months with an equivalent total cost of US$1.95 million.

The program is intended to increase market opportunities for small and medium companies and to promote the use of renewable energy and power efficiency by facilitating access to economic incentives. Chilean economic development officials recently invited other applications for study funding from developers of non-conventional renewable energy projects, including hydropower. (HNN 1/11/07)
