China’s Hubei Province has awarded contracts for electrical equipment for the 88-MW Cuijiaying Navigation and Power Complex project on the Han River in Hubei.
Hubei Mec Machinery &Equipment Co. Ltd. received a 3.9 million renminbi (US$568,400) contract to supply switchboard equipment and a 5.3 million renminbi (US$757,000) contract to supply transformer equipment. Xindongbei Electric Switchgear Co. Ltd. received a 3.7 million renminbi (US$538,420) contract to supply gas-insulated switchgear.
Being developed by Hubei Provincial Cuijiaying Navigation and Power Complex Management Department, Cuijiaying is part of the Fifth Inland Waterways project. (HNN 11/8/07) In 2005, the program received World Bank approval for a US$100 million loan.
Objectives of the waterways project include providing cost-effective transport capacity for waterway users on the Han River as well as sustainable hydropower and water resources in the region.
